Drs Amy And Brad Graiff

Before our special service was conceived, the co-founders of Hearts & Halos each realized the importance and beauty of being at home for end-of-life moments. When providing in-home euthanasia services for their own patients and pet parents, the 4 original owners independently recognized the impact of offering a gentle goodbye in the comfort of home.

Dr. Amy began her studies by earning a BS in Biology at the College of William & Mary in Virginia. She went on to graduate with honors as valedictorian from the Atlantic Veterinary College, earning her DVM. She then completed a 1-year internship at VCA WLA Animal Hospital (focused on small animal surgery and medicine) and earned her CVA at Chi University. Her clients often speak of her exceptional bedside manner and compassion for others.

Brad earned his BS in Accounting/Finance at the University of Illinois-Urbana/Champaign. He went on to practice accounting before advancing into a successful career in acting and modeling. A lifelong animal lover, he adopted a puppy who was diagnosed with parvovirus. After a long hospital stay under the care of Dr. Amy, the puppy survived. The couple quickly fell in love and happily married a year later.

After experiencing the heartbreak of natural passing with her personal family pets as a child, Dr Amy knew she wanted to develop a kinder way. As a veterinarian, she recognized that pets were often scared when coming to the hospital – no matter how peaceful the staff tried to make it, a final goodbye in a clinical setting was not the kindest choice. In 2011, Dr Amy became the first veterinarian with Hearts & Halos to focus her skills solely in compassionate home pet euthanasia.

Over a decade later, having helped thousands of pets and pet parents experience loving and peaceful transitions at home, Dr Amy & Brad have recognized together that their passion is to encourage and teach other veterinarians to also offer this amazing service. Their hope is that every family might have the opportunity to say goodbye to their beloved pets with peace and compassion, surrounded by love, in their favorite place – because there’s no place like home.
